Frequently Asked Questions.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal significantly reduces hair growth, but it may not remove all hair permanently. Most people experience long-lasting results and may require maintenance sessions.

Common areas include the face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, and back. However, almost any area with unwanted hair can be treated.

The number of sessions required varies per individual, but typically 6 to 8 sessions are recommended for optimal results.

Technological advances have made laser hair removal suitable for a range of skin tones and hair types, but a consultation is necessary to determine the best approach.

The laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

Most people describe the sensation as similar to a snapping rubber band. A cooling  device is used to protect skin and enhance comfort.

Temporary side effects like redness, swelling, or irritation are possible. These can be managed with post-treatment care provided by us.

Before your laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal is a convenient and effective way to reduce unwanted body hair. However, proper preparation is essential to ensure the best results and minimise any potential discomfort. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get ready for your laser hair removal session.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Stay out of direct sunlight for at least two weeks before your treatment. Tanned skin can increase the risk of side effects. Apply sunscreen with a high SPF if you need to go outside.

Shave the Treatment Area

Shave the area 24 to 48 hours before your appointment. This ensures the laser targets the hair follicle directly. Avoid waxing, plucking, or using depilatory creams as they remove the hair root, which the laser needs to target.

Skip Lotions and Deodorants

Avoid applying lotions, creams, or deodorants on the day of your appointment. Clean, dry skin helps the laser work more effectively.

Refrain from Other Hair Removal Methods

Avoid waxing, tweezing, or electrolysis for at least four weeks before treatment. These methods remove the hair root, which is the laser's target.

After your laser hair removal.

To ensure optimal results and a smooth recovery, it’s important to follow these aftercare steps carefully. Your skin has just undergone a significant process, so a little extra TLC will go a long way.

Avoid Direct Sun Exposure

Your skin will be more sensitive than usual after the treatment. It's crucial to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 48 hours. This helps prevent any potential pigmentation changes or irritation. Whenever you're heading outdoors, generously apply sunscreen with a high SPF to the treated areas. This acts as a shield against harmful UV rays, protecting your sensitive skin.

Soothe with Aloe Vera

Should you experience discomfort or redness, apply aloe vera to the affected areas. This can help soothe and calm the skin, promoting quicker recovery.

Avoid Hot Water and Swimming

For the next 24-48 hours, steer clear of hot water, saunas, and swimming pools. Hot environments can increase irritation and prolong recovery time

Moisturise Regularly

Keeping your skin hydrated aids in recovery and maintains the softness of the treated area. Use a gentle moisturiser to lock in moisture and promote healing.
